For those who are staying extra days in the Cairns region, we have compiled a list of Things to See and Do. Click on the links below or print this page.
The Reef Tour is by large motor catamaran to a stable reef pontoon with shade, snorkelling and sundeck. It includes Glass-bottom boat, Semi-submersible, Underwater Observatory, fish-feeding with optional extras such as scuba diving, helmet diving and guided snorkel tours. The only extra is transport to/from the reef terminal. There is plenty of time on the cruise out to the Reef to chat and catch up with your fellow Amateurs!
The Rainforest Tour includes airconditioned coach to Port Douglas Wildlife Habitat (with optional extra of photos holding wildlife!), a cruise on the Daintree River, and drive out to Cape Tribulation where the Rainforest meets the Reef. Price includes pickup/dropoff from the Venue, including Holloways Beach. There is plenty of time on the scenic drive up the coast to chat and catch up with your fellow Amateurs!
If you are interested in taking part in either our Reef or Rainforest tours on Monday, please email us ASAP to book your place, so that we can provide you with special group discounts for ALARA members! Email: vk4@alara.org.au
Whether or not you are going out to the Reef, if you have two hours to spare one evening, we would highly recommend you take in a Reef Teach Presentation. It is an interactive show in the city centre, with enthusiastic marine bioligists who can show you what you are likely to see on the Reef - there are slideshows, talks and touch-tanks. It really does prepare you for your trip to the Outer Reef in that you will be better able to see and identify marine life once you get out there, and even if you don't go out to the Reef, you will almost feel as if you have! $23 per adult.
